What's going on

Hey everyone!! I hope all of you are having a bashing summer!! The fall is coming, and as most of you know, Sammy and I will be hitting the road in October. I'm looking forward to getting out there and partying it up with everybody! I've put a little thing together with Sammy's guitarist Vic, and J.D. on drums. We call it "The Mad Anthony Express", and we'll be opening up the show with some EARLY VH stuff. I'm doing the lead singing, and we've been having a blast with this!!
I'm also having a contest on my web site, with people sending in their HOTTEST recipe's using my hot sauce, hot lava mustard and barbeque sauces. I'm choosing a weekly winner, and after Labor Day weekend I'll be picking a grand prize winner and some runner-ups who will get some cool MA stuff!! I am personally trying out the recipes I like and WHOA!!, I'm running out of Asbestos underwear!!! I'll be checking in with all of you soon with more info on the tour. I'll also be posting up the dates for all of you on my website. I can't wait to see all of you in the fall!!, Michael

How are you going to do that?

Are you really out of Van Halen?

Word is there are going to annouce a tour.

If you are going to tour with hagar then you not going to tour with Van Halen. If they tour that is.

What really happened? Fans really want to know the skinny on all that.

I don't see how they can get back with DLR and not have you back in the band.

Trips me out.

I wish you the best M.A and hope all goes well with what ever you do.

Good luck and I wish you well,

Matt Wales.

Hey Mike,

Just read about the upcoming VH tour (again)and saw you're still not in the lineup.

I saw VH with you & Sammy in 2004 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. Fantastic show - although I could see back then that Ed had some issues. But you all sounded great.

As much as I like Dave (I saw him, you, and Sammy at the Glen Helen Pavilion for the Sam and Dave tour), I will NOT be checking out this new tour if you're not in it.

I can tell how you & Sammy both LOVE to put on a show for the audience. Sure money and fame is nice, but it's obvious you guys love the fans most of all. It's a kind of purity you don't see in rock bands much anymore. I certainly don't see it in the "new" VH tour.

So keep doing what you're doing. I hope you and Sammy do another tour together soon - maybe something in the Orange County area again? Although I don't mind doing a little driving to see another great show.

Take care,
Steve

Congrats on your upcoming tour with the Red Rocker! That promises some GREAT music. I see in the news where (some other band) will be touring with a bass player/backing vocalist who is (not Mike). 30-years later, we've learned that Mike's no-ego basslines and backing vocals were every bit as important to the (other band) sound as the guitar, no "if"'s "and"'s or "but"'s. A building's GOT to have a rock-solid foundation, right? Good luck to (other band) and (not Mike), but, I know who I'm seeing this Fall.

Hi Anthony, I´m a die hard fan of VH since years - but without you in the band it´s not the same. Today I read that you are no longer in the band and I am shocked about this. On the other hand I´m happy to read about your tour with Sammy (who was the best singer VH ever had!). So: I wish you all the best and I´m sure you know, what every fan in the world knows: VH without you is not what it is with you! Stephan from Germany.

MA,

I saw you and Sammy last time you were both in K.C., and on HDNET. You both put on a fantastic show, and your enthusiasm for the performance was awesome. I will be there in Nov. on this next tour. As much as I loved VH growing up, I will not see this version! That is a disgrace!!!!!If E VH thinks that fans don't know what has been VH's problem the last several years, he is mistaken.

I buy a concert ticket with the intention of having a good time. That's a given with you and Sammy. You are all about having a good time and, believe me, your fans know that. Will not go see the abomination called Van Halen.
See you on November 13 at the Fox in St. Louis.

You know, the fact that Micheal is not going to be with the VH tour this fall is exactly the reason I won't be attending.

Mike, you voice and style were a integral part of the classic VH sound, and I completely doubt if Eddie's ultra green teenage son can replace a seasoned vet who has been playing as long as you have.

Maybe they'll hire a backup singer backstage to do Mike's harmony vocal parts.

12:33 PM

Just read on rotharmy.com that Van Halen intends to use pre-recorded backing vocals by Eddie, Alex and Wolfie for the upcoming tour, as reported by melodicrock. I hope it ain't true. That's what would be expected of Madonna or Britney Spears, not VH. I'm glad we still have Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar, both are powerhouse singers for sure.

Mike has too much respect for the legacy of CVH and it seems he's too nice a guy to ever say, that the only reasons why the fans aren't going to get a true CVH reunion is because the Sisters have the mentality of CHILDREN and are egotistical, greedy PR1@KS.

Dave sold his soul and whatever shred of integrity he had left for the prospect of finally getting some good press and the opportunity to play again in front of more than 700 people a night.

Classic Van Halen is, was and always will be Mike, Dave, Ed and Al. Anything less is a complete rip-off. Sorry but I wont pay to see the band sell out MA so Ed can Hulk Hogan his 16 year old kid into the music business.

You're the MAN, Mike!

My first-ever concert was the VH '81 tour in Greensboro, NC. I was 13 years old. And I've been to every single tour since, including the last "reunion" tour.

I hate like hell that you won't be along for the new (hopefully) "reunion" tour. But, the good thing is, now I get to go to TWO "VH" shows - the one w/ Dave AND the one with you and Sam! Now THAT'S the Best of Both Worlds! ;-) So stop by North Carolina, okay?

You rock, buddy!

PS: I had a cable access TV show a while back and did the "call-in show" comedy skit dedicated to you guys (VH). Check it out if you get a chance:

Mike,

Anyone who is a true, loyal VH fan knows, that without your bass skills, and your vocals, this bands upcoming tour without you is as useless as it was when Dave left.

You 4 gelled so well as a group, that it's like losing one wheel off a car! Sure you can put a spare on it, but it just doesn't run the same without the original set that was on it!

I was 16 during the 1984 tour, and I was going to go see you guys for the first time in Boston, and Maaaaan I was so excited!, but a few days before the concert came, my Dad died....And let me tell you, with the combo of my dad dying, and knowing I couldn't see you guys play brought me to a heartache that I still to this day have never felt before.

And sure enough, Dave left......I just thought to myself that I'd never get to see my all time favorite band play live.

And now 20 something years later, a rock miracle has happened, but now YOU'RE not there.....Mike, please, don't do this man......true VH fans like myself have waited too F'ing long for this possible miracle to happen....Please Mike, make mends, do it for your fans.

I need this so someday when I have grandchildren, and they go looking through my old stuff in the attic, and see my VH drawn logos on my old school books, or my old denim jacket with VH patches sewn all over it, and then ask me, "Did you really see Van Halen play Gramp?!", and then I can say proudly, "You bet your a$$ I did!"

Please Mike, reconsider, your die hard VH fans need you there.

Regards,

Eric

Mike, I don't give a fuck what Eddie says. In my mind, you'll always be a Van Halen. After the fucked up shit he's said, I wouldn't go to Eddie's show if you paid me $1000. You and Sammy are the real deal -- Dave's always been about the pizzaz, with no substance, he'd sell his own mother for a few bucks (I mean, come on -- bluegrass VH tunes!?!?). It is fitting you play the bass!!

I love you and Sammy, don't ever stop rocking! I'll see you on tour. Looking forward to it.

There's no Van Halen without Michael Anthony. I could understand Eddie's booze-addled brain replacing Mike with Foodcourt (or whatever his name is), but to replace Mike's picture on the VH1 album cover with a whelp who wasn't even conceived when it came out? That's too far. Possibly illegal too, as I'm sure there's a copyright on the album cover possibly shared by Mike and maybe Warner Brothers too. Really uncool to see him removed from the album cover and Women and Children First as well. What a low-class, reality TV show refugee Eddie has turned out to be. I'll see Mike and Sammy on tour, as soon as they announce some Northeast dates...

I am dumbfounded on why you are not going to do the upcoming tour this fall with Eddie, Alex, And Dave.
Whats the reason Eddie's son is doing it and not you?
I mean at least have one tour of the original lineup then do stuff with Wolfgang.
As far as the history of Van Halen goes. If David Lee Roth was not such a Wiener. Doe's he not realize....
Is he like mentally unbalanced. LOL!
I think Van Halen Rocks either with Sammy or Dave on lead vocals.
But its really like two separate bands with different lead singers. And that Includes Gary as well. But that goes for any rock band that changes its lineup. It still won't be like the original Van Halen that got me into music without you.
Anyways I hope sometime in My life time I will get a chance to see the Original line up play live. I have only seen Van Halen with Sammy on lead vocals. which by the way one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
I was only 13 in 1984 so I really wasn't going to rock concerts until have David left.
What ever the deal is Keep rocking Michael!

Don't know if it was threats of legal action, or just massive former fan outrage, but VH has replaced the altered album covers on their website with the original ones. Now if they could just replace their bassist with the original one as well. Nothing against Wolfie, as this certainly isn't his fault, but without Mike, it isn't VH. Hopefully the announced (but unrevealed) 2008 portion of the Mike & Sammy show will include some dates in the Northeast, as I'll be there in a heartbeat. Saw you guys in Jersey in 2006, and you rocked like VH hasn't in decades...

Michael,

You are the heart and soul of Van Halen, and you are the only one with enough common decency anymore. I have a lot of respect for your ability to have put up with ego-maniacs like the Van Halen brothers and their "new brother" David Lee Roth for all the years that you did. First off, I will not see Van Halen because without you and Sammy Hagar it is not Van Halen to me and millions of others. David Lee Roth is washed up, and so is Eddie Van Halen. No 16 year old kid can ever replace you...that is the biggest joke. I don't care how incredible Eddie thinks he is...without your bass parts, I think the whole groove is going to fall apart instantly, and I think once people go to the shows, they will see how big a part your presense actually was. Anyways, I wouldn't want to take part in this "reunion" anyways, it is all a big scam...they claim they are a "new" band: then why are they playing all of the classic Van Halen hits? And what was that whole kissing Diamond Dave on the cheek thing about? That wasn't weird or anything. I guess Eddie Van Halen will do anything for money these days. Just want you to know, me and millions of other people got your back, and keep on rocking with my main man Sammy...you guys have too much talent to waste on a bunch of money-hungry wash-ups the Van Halen brothers.

P.S. Does Alex Van Halen even have an opinion on anything anymore, or does he just side with his bro all the time no matter how he feels?

You are the only one of those 4 with class. Why has it become such a circus?

VH was my favorite in jr hi/high school, although I put it all away when I entered college.

Still, looking at where things are today, you seem to be the only one who has any class (of the original; I think Sammy has class too though), and think you are handling all the recent circus with dignity.

DLR was my favorite back then but you are my favorite now.

No one knows (well, except my husband and old friends/family from back then) that I was even a VH fan because I have been so embarrassed through the years by all the antics.

(antics by DLR and Eddie, btw, esp removing you from the covers on the vh site before they put you back on -ridiculous!!).

Thank you for keeping your dignity and staying true to your fans.

Hey Mike. I saw you with VH in 2004
in Dallas, and now im glad I did. I have been a fan of VH since I was 8yrs old,and that was my first concert ive ever been to. Now are you out of the picture or what? Why has Eddie done this? Seems to me he put his son in there to reach the younger kids, but forgot that we fans who are older now helped him be where he is. What is is problem now? I never understood what happened in 1984, but this is 2007 seems he needs to grow up and put his ego away. How can you have a reunion tour and not have the same people in the band? Sammy, I can understand, DLR, I can understand, But without you, your vocals and bass, I cannot understand. I dont want to see some kid in there. I dont care if it is Eddies kid. Seems you are taking it well, but I want to know how you can put time and energy into a band, be put into the hall of fame, go through 3 singers,be famous world over, to have it all ripped out from under you? Van Halen may have a reunion tour with their long lost friend, but they will realize the true friend they really lost when that all goes south again. Well maybe not being with VH is a good thing, you and Sammy could sit and watch as the train goes off the track, and laugh. Hey Eddie GROW UP. We are not getting any younger, and the crap you pull is getting old. It may have worked in 1984, but not this time. Long Live Mad Anthony. (We're a new band)Famous last words of a fool!
