Apology to Management

I want to apologise about a statement that I made on my last blog post. This is in reference to the shows that I missed on the "Livin it Up" tour. In no way was this meant to be a slap at management. It was just a case of miscommunication, which has since been all cleared up, pure and simple. I apologise to Azoff management for the poor choice of words. Hope to see you all soon!!....Michael

Hi...I linked over to your website and read you bio...I'm sorry, I've kinda lost connection with a lot of secular music over the recent years and didn't know anything about you, but was encouraged to read that you are still with your wife of more than 20 years. That is just really cool. I wish God's best to you and your children, always!

Your story is inspiring!

Dear Mike,
I met you once on the VH3 tour. I got backstage from the "Inside" fan club. You were super nice.

I know it is still in the rumor stage, but I think it's awful that you may not be on the next Van Halen tour. For all these years, I used to think it was the singers of Van Halen that were causing problems, turns out it was Eddie.

Granted, I'm just a 3rd party person - completely removed, simply reading articles, so the truth is probably somewhere in between. But it seems quite immature of Eddie.

I was you all the best and hope to see you on a Sammy tour.

Billboard.com also reports that Mikey is out of VH. What a travesty. I think most of the fans that have been waiting for the big reunion will be turned off and will pass if Mikey is out.

I'm sincerely sorry a 15 year old replaced you in Van Halen. Not only will they miss out on your great bass playing, but also the background vocals/harmonies that gave VH it's signiture sound. Rumor has it that they will be going as the "other" half of Van Halen. I will not be seeing them live without you. Best Wishes

Mike,

Man, I don't know if the rumors are true, but either way, the band just won't be the same without your vocals.

Thanks for being the anchor of the band for all these years! I've been a fan since the 6th grade.

Re: Billboard EVH Interview..

Ed: ...They're out there selling hot sauce and tequila and playing all my songs. It doesn't bother me. It just makes them a cover band.

Ya know, that's just too fucked up to be believed--so I wont. If Eddie takes a so-called Van Halen on the road sans Michael Anthony, and starts "playing all my songs," to me that would make Ed's new group the actual VH cover band. (It would sound wrong, it would feel strange, and it would probably suck for most VH fans.)

It would be like viewing a corrupted body in a casket; no thanks. Van Halen with son of Ed instead of pal of Sam? Close the lid..

Michael Anthony is a hell of bass player.
Van Halen is NO LONGER a hell of a band.

Good luck Mike, your the best.

The Van Halen World keeps getting stranger...Eddie's mad about Sam and Mike doing something instead of dropping off planet earth (V2 tour, hot sauce, tequila). Good to hear about the RnR HoF, VH deserves that honor more than any other band in my book.
As for an 07' Tour...Im not going to waste my time unless its VH circa 1985-1996. Not gonna pay another $110 to see A dick, a 15 year old, and that phony DLR (should he be the singer). I'd rather pay $10 like I did for V2 last June.
Stick with Sam Mikey, you seem to be having more fun.

Michael,

It looks obvious that the stellar brain trust that is Eddie Van Gallo has decided to replace you with musical genious *cough* that is Wolfgang Van Halen.

Well cheers to them!

It also looks as if Alex lost his manly package sometime before the birth of his new kid as evidenced by the fact that he's going along with it!

Dave? Who cares? He lost his mind in 1985 when he decided to be a game-show host.

I hope and pray that you NEVER go back to those guys with the exception of giving them a knee in the nuts at the RRHOF.

And if skeletor...em...I mean Eddie tries to keep you from that then I hope you sue his ass!!!

Sincerely,

One person who will not be attending any VH tour without Mikey and am building a website to make sure I can convince as many people as i can nnot to go either!!!

Hey Mikey~

From a 44 yr old VH fan who has folowed the band since the beginning, I can say that without you onstage it is not VH! Ed was my hero until he pulled this one on his fans. If VH is "his band", he can keep it if Mighty Mikey isnt standing onstage thumping the low-end and singing the high-end.
So sad to see what was once the greatest band in the land turn into a bad joke. Nothing against Wolfie but his dad and uncle are officially complete morons now.

Count me among the (former) VH fans who want no part of this big "reunion" tour without you.

Mike, you kick ass man. You're the best thing about Van Halen bro! Keep rocking your ass off with Sammy, The Punks and whoever. Playing music is what it's all about! Life's too short to hang around miserable people. You are the TRUE spirit of what Van Halen is and was all about.

I believed the brothers during all the lead singer fiascos.. but now?

What the brothers have been doing recently calls everything they have ever said or done into question. I now believe that between the two of them they have at least four faces.

Al: Pick up one of your sticks and beat Ed with it. Use the other on yourself.

Your conduct over the past several years has turned me from someone who would kiss the ground you two walked on since day one... I'm so disgusted with you at this point I can't even find the words.

I continue to have the highest regard for you, Mike. The nicest guy in R&R happens to be the finest bass player and a terrific vocalist. Take care

Dear Mikey,

Even back in 1982 you were carrying a lot of the vocals in concert while Dave was busy amusing himself or sucking wind.

Imagine how bad it will be now without you. I wouldn't even consider attending without a full band reunion.

I've got a lot of respect for you Mike. If I had to guess...there's a reason some band members have soured on you for no good reason...you're the only one who is truly happy and they can't stand it.
Good thing they are talented because beyond that they seem pretty shallow and pathetic outside of the notes they play.

All the best to you,

--Jay

Mike please just confirm one more time whether or not you were even asked by the brothers to be a part of this "reunion". I read another reprot that said you turned it down but I would have to imagine that if you did it's because they were making some ridiculous demands. Anyway you don't have to answer all of that, just whether or not they asked you. Thanks... Oh and do you want to join my band?? haha.

Hiya,
Just wanted to say thank you for what you do.

When I hear certain older VH stuff, it conjurs great memories of my teenage years growing up on the Ms. gulf coast (early 80's).

I wont comment on the current happenings of VH because it's none of my business, but I wanted you to know how much your music means to me.

Mike,
I am just about ready to throw my Van Halen Records out of the window. Eddie has left such a bitter taste in my mouth over the years. He's just become such a sad person and it's so obvious that the fans are only important when he and Al' need to sell something. I didn't see the last tour, because it was too much money and would never go if you aren't on bass. When push come to shove..... Thank you for being you!

Mike,
Always a pleasure reading you stuff.
Love your website too. I ordered some hot sauce a while back and really enjoyed it. Gettin' some more really soon.
Congrats on your marriage success. It's a rare thing in this day and age. And, last but not least are you thinking about creating some Mad Anthony beer? I can imagine some wings with the hot sauce and cooling it off with a Mad Anthony Brew!
Good health and spirits
Cheers,

Dear Mike,

I just got New Hampshires's VH-FAN license plate!!!!

Blame it on the Jose, but.. I just re-watched your Without A Net and Right Here Right Now concert videos.. I felt blessed to finally see you guys play, in 2004 in Salt Lake.. (could it get better?) the first time is always the best!!

Mike, Thanks for the awesome memories, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s!!

I cannot fathom a VH tour with Mike on Bass. The rythm section is the foundation of any ensemble. Eddie is my favorite guitar god of all time, but he needs to take a look (and a listen) to what his roots are. Mike, you are the BOMB, and you will always be the baddest bottom in the business. When I read your bio, re: John PAUL JONES, it all made perfect sense. As a spoiled guitarist with a history of great bassists behind me, I really appreciate your sound.
Keep it low, bro.

The tour that everyone's been waiting for is a farce. Van Halen WITHOUT Mike?!?!?! No such thing! I liked Dave, liked Sammy (never really did like Gary, even with Extreme - sorry), but no Mike? INCONCEIVABLE! Sorry guys, gonna have to pass on this one.
