Soboba Cacino show cancellation

I know how dissappointing it was for everyone planning to attend the Soboba casino show to hear about the cancellation. Believe me, nobody was more dissappointed then Sam and myself!! Sammy was quite ill and trying to sing a show sick is ALOT harder to do then just having to play an instrument. I know because I've been through it! The tour is over now, but stay tuned because word has it that we will try to make up the cancelled show. I've published a comment from a person who is quite pissed about the cancellation, and I'm very sorry that someone feels that way about it. Sammy and I take great pride in what we do, THIS IS MY LIFE, DUDE!! We would not have cancelled unless we knew we could not give you fans a great show. Like I said, stay tuned and I'll let everyone know what up as soon as I know!
.....and again, THANKS FOR A ROCKIN' SUMMER!!!!!

What it is to make lemons out of lemonade...

The road is tough. I've only ever done small tours--nothing even remotely close to the massive outings you guys have done. To still be out there after so many years and having a great time... well you truly are all about the music and the people.

I don't believe the complainer spoke very fairly, nor did he realize the possibilities. In 2002 my buddy and I drove from Minneapolis to Kansas City (about eight hours) for the Sam and Dave show. Little did we know it had been postponed. Shortly before showtime we pulled into the giant amphitheatre parking lot--which was dead empty--and disappointingly looked at one another while saying: "Maybe there's another parking lot on the other side?" So for the night we went into the city, found a little pub with two-for-ones all evening, threw all our money on the bar, and started drinking. We chatted it up with the locals and watched the 20-somethings slowly get drunker and drunker and, eventually, hook up and leave the bar in pairs. There was no Sam and Dave rock show with special guest Michael Anthony that evening, but my buddy and I still talk fondly of our drunken evening in Kansas City. (The sun was b-r-i-g-h-t on the drive back to MN the next day.)

There's always fun to be had if one is willing to improvise.

PS - Mike, you might find my band's album cover amusing--and very familiar in a bazaar kind of way: site

Don't let the putz get to you, Mikey! Sure, it's disappointinig to look forward to something then miss out on it. But that dude needs to understand that the decision to cancel a show doesn't come easily, especially when you've got tickets sold and semis full of equipment sitting in the parking lot of the venue ready to go. You guys have been on the road for over thirty years - you have a pretty good idea if you're up to putting on a show or not. Thanks for the great show in Mountainview!

That guys is just so bitter. Damn Michael is saying they are planning on making it up and he's all whinning. Sounds like some one must have been an only child and got what ever he wanted. Bravo to you for always going to work sick and I'm sure all your coworkers thank you for giving it to them too. Suck it up and wait you big baby! I saw you in San Jose Micheal ( Arcadia!) and You made my night. Thanks for a great concert!

There is no need to appologize. There is always one in every crowd, they are usually in front of me in the checkout line. I have to give kudos to your crew to tear down and have that equipment to sosoba by 7 AM. Thats a job right there.
Now my story,I had been looking forward to this show for months. So when we turned the corner and I said the show was cancelled my wife said "HAHA funny asshole." Too bad it wasn't a sick joke. We went on to the casino and saw the crew loading the last of the equipment back into the trucks. Bummed we went in and had dinner like all the other redheads. Dropped 40 bucks and went home. I knew all along that you and Sam would come through in the end. Thats the kind of people that you are.
If I remember right wasn't Monsters of rock postponed at the Coliseum because Sam had strep throat. Come on shit happens and with all the people and places you visit. I saw the crew at Sosoba packing up they we ready for a show there is no conspiracy Sam got sick the date is rescheduled and I will be there! Livinitup!

If you guys do make up the Saboba show, would you please consider re-scheduling the Tulsa concert that was cancelled back in July. We're dying to see you guy in Oklahoma!

And again, thanks for taking the time and caring about your fans.

I for one am glad that you all decided to cancel and reschedule the show. If Sam had come out done 4-5 songs coughing and wheezing. Then pulled an Axel Rose on us I am sure we would have all been pissed. Instead we will get to have our own show. Oh and only one guy gets pissed. I think its well worth it.

Michael thanks for posting about the tour all summer. I have really enjoyed it. I am also sooo grateful that you guys have decided to re-schedule Soboba in October. I was one of the many fans disapointed when we drove up and saw the signs that the concert had been canceled but we knew that there had to be a good reason. I'm looking so forward to seeing you and Sammy and the Waborita's.Again...Thanks so much!!!

Michael, I'm so glad to see you're with Sammy and doing what you guys do best - and sorry to hear of his illness.

Last time I saw you was with VH here in Winnipeg Canada - I was in the rings on your side of the stage. I was so impressed with your playing, singing, and the attention you paid to the crowd.

Maybe next time you are on the road you can do some Canadian dates - maybe Sam will open a Cabo it Cabo North!

Hi there Michael!

Hènke from Holland here! My first post at one of your blogs! It's a nice way to keep us fans updated!
Unfortunately there are always people that will never have enough and want more and more and more. People should be happy that you guys still play every summer! I mean c'mon! I can only see you all once a year, down in Cabo and I'm happy as a MF that I can be there every year. I can't believe somebody gets so pissed at 1 cancellation and that he starts bitching at this cool blog!
I hope this 1 person doesnt make you feel bad! And I hope even more that this person will soon realize how lucky he is to hear such a great music every single year! Be happy with what you get and enjoy every minute of it!

See ya in a couple of weeks! :)
Hènke, the DUTCH REDhead :)
